Gintama Movie 1: Shinyaku Benizakura-hen

Gintoki and his Yorozuya companions (or rather, employees suffering from labour abuses), Shinpachi and Kagura, struggle to make ends meet in Edo, a future, alien-infested metropolis. They take on any employment they can find while attempting to avoid anything too risky. When Katsura, the head of the Joui rebels and a long-time acquaintance of Gintoki, goes missing after being severely attacked by an unknown assassin, Shinpachi and Kagura launch an inquiry into his whereabouts and the identity of the murderer. Meanwhile, Gintoki accepts a seemingly unconnected assignment: Tetsuya, the blacksmith, demands that Gin recover a rare and powerful sword known as the Benizakura, which was just stolen.

As the two investigations converge, the Yorozuya team finds themselves at the centre of a massive conspiracy centred on the malevolent nature of the Benizakura sword. Gintoki decides to take the fight directly to the enemy headquarters, and sets off on one of his most dangerous missions yet, aided by a few surprising friends.
