Synopsis
After a close friend passes away, Shinji Ikari is left in an emotional stupor. Gendou Ikari’s NERV competes with the covert organisation SEELE to determine who can carry out their final plan sooner since his son is unable to operate the humanoid robot Evangelion Unit-01. While Gendou wants to turn everyone into a single primordial creature in order to reconcile with his late wife Yui, SEELE wants to fuse their own souls into an Evangelion unit in order to create a godlike being.
The armed forces of SEELE launch a deadly attack of the NERV headquarters. Asuka Langley Souryuu pilots Evangelion Unit-02 in a desperate final fight against SEELE’s most powerful weapons as SEELE’s warriors kill NERV’s scientists and security guards.
While the conflict continues, a dejected Shinji hides at NERV’s headquarters. Captain Misato Katsuragi searches for Shinji as civilization disintegrates around them and the destiny of the world is in the teen’s hands.
