Horimiya

“Horimiya” is a heartwarming slice-of-life anime series that revolves around the lives of high school students and their journey of self-discovery, friendship, and romance. Based on the manga by HERO, it follows the blossoming relationship between two seemingly opposite classmates who discover each other’s hidden sides.

The story primarily focuses on two main characters: Kyouko Hori, a popular and intelligent girl at school, and Izumi Miyamura, a quiet and unassuming boy with piercings and tattoos outside of school. While Hori maintains a perfect and responsible image in class, she leads a completely different life at home, taking care of her younger brother Souta while her parents are often away for work. On the other hand, Miyamura is seen as an introverted and unremarkable student, hiding his true self behind long hair and glasses.

The pivotal event that brings Hori and Miyamura together occurs when Miyamura encounters Hori’s younger brother injured on the street. Miyamura helps Souta and discovers Hori’s true self when he visits her home to return her brother’s belongings. Surprised by Miyamura’s appearance outside of school, Hori begins to see him in a different light, realizing that he is not the quiet loner she initially believed him to be.

As their friendship deepens, Hori and Miyamura gradually reveal their true selves to each other, forming a close bond and becoming pillars of support in each other’s lives. Through their interactions and shared experiences, they discover that they have more in common than they thought, and their relationship evolves into a sweet and tender romance.
