The story revolves around a young boy named Gon Freecss, who embarks on a quest to become a Hunter, an elite group of individuals with exceptional skills and licenses to pursue dangerous and rare treasures, as well as undertake various challenging tasks.

Motivated by his desire to find his absentee hunter father, Gon takes the Hunter Exam, a grueling test that pushes participants to their limits physically, mentally, and emotionally. Along the way, he forms lasting friendships with fellow examinees, including the kind-hearted doctor-in-training Leorio, the mischievous but fiercely loyal Kurapika, and the enigmatic and mischievous Killua, who hails from a notorious family of assassins.
