Synopsis
The Angels, enormous, very strong extraterrestrial war vehicles, make a second appearance in Tokyo in the year 2015. The Evangelion, a humanoid battle robot created by NERV, a special United Nations organisation, is the only thing standing between mankind and extinction. The Evangelion’s one flaw is that there aren’t many individuals who can pilot them, despite their ability to endure whatever the Angels can throw at them.
Only a small group of youths, all of whom were born fourteen years ago, or nine months after the initial appearance of the Angels, are capable of communicating with the Evangelion. Shinji Ikari, whose father leads the NERV team that created and maintains the Evangelion, is one such adolescent. Shinji is forced to go deep inside himself for the guts and fortitude to not only fight but to survive, or risk losing everything, after being thrown into a conflict and a series of mysterious occurrences.
