Parasyte: The Maxim

One fateful night, strange creatures known as “parasites” descend upon Earth, infiltrating human hosts and taking control of their bodies. However, Shinichi manages to evade the initial invasion when a parasite attempts to enter his body, instead settling for his right hand. This symbiotic entity, which Shinichi names Migi (meaning “right” in Japanese), forms an unusual partnership with him, leading them both on a perilous journey.

As Shinichi and Migi navigate their new coexistence, they discover that other humans have fallen victim to these parasitic creatures. These parasites, unlike Migi, have completely taken over their hosts and lack any sense of empathy or humanity. Driven by a relentless hunger for human flesh and the desire to maintain their anonymity, these parasites become a threat to Shinichi, his loved ones, and the entire human race.

Parasyte: The Maxim explores the intricate relationship between Shinichi and Migi as they confront the moral and ethical complexities of their situation. Shinichi grapples with the loss of his humanity, gradually transforming from an ordinary teenager into a battle-hardened individual forced to confront the darkest aspects of human nature. Meanwhile, Migi begins to develop its own unique perspective, evolving beyond its instinctual purpose and demonstrating a newfound curiosity about the human world.

Throughout the series, Shinichi encounters other humans who have also formed symbiotic relationships with parasites. Some of these encounters lead to unexpected alliances, while others become harrowing battles for survival. As Shinichi’s path intertwines with these individuals, he confronts the ethical dilemma of whether these parasitic beings are inherently evil or if there is a possibility of coexistence.
