Made in Abyss Movie 1: Journey’s Dawn

The story is set in a world where a massive and enigmatic chasm known as the Abyss stretches deep into the earth, harboring untold mysteries and treasures. The Abyss is divided into several layers, each filled with its own unique flora, fauna, and dangers. Riko, who dreams of becoming a legendary cave raider like her mother, Lyza the Annihilator, embarks on a journey to uncover the truth behind her mother’s disappearance.

The film begins with Riko discovering a wounded Reg, a humanoid robot with no memory of his past. Together, they venture into the Abyss, facing numerous challenges and meeting a cast of intriguing characters along the way. Their first major obstacle comes in the form of a deadly monster known as an Orbed Piercer. Riko and Reg barely escape with their lives, but they become more determined to reach the bottom of the Abyss.

During their descent, Riko and Reg encounter other cave raiders, including the seasoned explorer Ozen the Immovable. Ozen provides valuable information about the Abyss and warns them of its unforgiving nature. She also reveals that the further they descend, the more dangerous and unfathomable the Abyss becomes.

As Riko and Reg progress deeper into the Abyss, they face perilous creatures, treacherous terrain, and the ever-present Curse of the Abyss, which inflicts severe consequences on those who ascend too quickly. They also learn about the existence of Relics, ancient artifacts left behind by a long-lost civilization, and the potential power they hold.

One of the pivotal events in the film occurs when Riko and Reg encounter a mysterious white whistle, a relic belonging to Lyza. They uncover a hidden message from Lyza, revealing that she is still alive and waiting for them at the Abyss’s bottom layer, the fabled Sixth Layer. This revelation fuels Riko’s determination to press forward despite the immense dangers that lie ahead.

Another significant plot point revolves around the bond between Riko and Reg. As they face numerous life-threatening situations together, their trust and reliance on each other grow stronger. Reg’s true identity and his past also become subjects of intrigue and mystery, adding depth to his character and the overall plot.

The film concludes with Riko and Reg reaching the Fourth Layer, where they encounter a peculiar village called Orth. The inhabitants of Orth have a deep connection to the Abyss and hold vital information about the lower layers. However, their arrival also draws the attention of hostile forces who seek to exploit Riko’s knowledge and Reg’s unique abilities.
